| Edward was left out of the movie because the model took too long to make. I think he would've added to the awesomeness of the film. What do you think? | |

| Mm, I feel Edward and Toby are a bit too similar. | |

| Well, you could have him do odd jobs or something. | |

| No. I find Toby to be too crucial a character. | |

| Same here. What I meant was that there could be a few more lines, but Edward would say them instead. | |

| Mhm. Or, Edward talks about the lost engine at the sheds with Toby (In the film, it was Henry.). | |

| OK, I checked, and it turns out that Edward never was in the script because he wouldn't add a thing to the film. | |

| Apologies but was Toby really that crucial? I mean, he doesn't really have much of a charachter. He's never described as wise in the TV series or in the Railway Series but Edward is. I always thought that he was too similar to Edward in the movie. Also apparently Edward was going to be in the movie but they didn't make a model for him for some reason. | |

| You've got a point, but I think that most TTTE fans consider Toby a 'wise old engine'.
The reason they didn't make a model for Edward was because they ran out of time. | |

| I don't know why they do. I always thought that Edward was the old wise one and Toby was kind of characterless. I mean, in the Railway Series and in the original TV series he kind of acts like a little kid but (rather than Thomas and Percy) doesn't really have anything interesting about him. | |

| I don't think that Toby acts like a little kid in the Railway and original TV Series. He does in the newer TV Series, but not the original one. (BTW, let's try to keep this thread open for Edward discussion. Open one for Toby in the Characters board instead. ) | |

| Bring what I said back to Edward in a moment ( ), Toby DOES act like a little kid in the Railway Series (eg. He makes fun of James in "Dirty Objects" and pretends to be innocent, he helps Percy scare Thomas, he makes fun of Percy when he's covered in hay). Toby never seem like the old wise one. It's really Edward (side note: Edward is starting to act like a little kid too so lets not compare the new series to the original) | |

| Taking your points in question:
- Dirty Objects
He's not really teasing James, he's just countering James's attacks.
- Ghost Train
All of us like a good laugh, and Toby isn't the exception. That's why he's helping Percy scare Thomas. (Anyways, Thomas needed a calling down. )
- Woolly Bear
Here again, Toby likes a good laugh. And admit it, Percy did look funny!
